Archaeology
The site has undergone an archaeological desk-based study, as well as fieldwork including magnetic surveying and trial trenching at the ten turbine locations. This work was conducted in agreement with the Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire, the archaeological advisor to SKDC.
The desk-based assessment found that one nationally protected Scheduled Monument exists within the Site, the Bennington Grange Moated Site. Despite its close proximity, it would not be disturbed and therefore the development has no impact on this feature.
The detailed magnetic surveys suggested that archaeological features may be present at all of the ten turbine sites, although of trenching found only one archaeological feature, a ditch, which was of negligible significance. To preserve any unknown underlying features however, an appropriate mitigation strategy would be formulated in consultation with the Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire.
