Shadow flicker
When the sun is strong and at a particular angle in the sky, the rotating blades of a wind turbine can cause an effect called "shadow flicker" within buildings, which may be a nuisance. Shadow flicker only occurs under a certain set of circumstances, including weather conditions, and the distance and direction of the property in relation to the turbines.
Using a computer model called WindPro, a study was undertaken into the potential for the Project to cause shadow flicker. Only one property, Downfields, was identified as being close enough, but although the “worst-case scenario” was considered, it was assessed that there is no risk of shadow flicker. This is due to the fact that the property lies to the south of the wind turbines.
