TV, radio and mobile phone reception
Local telecommunication services have been consulted to determine whether the rotating turbine blades would cause any interference to television and radio reception in the area. National Grid Wireless and BBC have reported that this should not be the case, however there is potential for television viewers living in the shadow zone of the turbines to have their signal scattered.
Although the project is not likely to affect homes for which there is no alternative off-air service, there is the possibility that the wind farm may affect homes with alternative off-air service. Any such adverse effect would be mitigated by Infinergy by providing the affected households with the installation of a suitable alternative system, such as the use of an existing cable system, receiving signals via satellite or providing a bespoke distribution system for the affected households such as a local cable system or repeater fed from a point where reception can be secured. Ofcom have indicated that there would be no impact to civil fixed links, and mobile communications operators we consulted with have confirmed there would be no impact to their operations.
